Development & design internships at ROBIN. The inside story...

robinhq-interns

At ROBIN we are happy to offer young talent the opportunity to develop further. To be honest, we do not do this entirely unselfishly. Providing internships and supervising these students costs the company time, effort and ultimately money. However, in recent years we have learned that interns can also deliver incredible value.

Out of the 21 people who currently work at ROBIN, Diederik (Interaction designer), Rob (Content & campaign designer), Wesley (Software developer) and Kyle (Software developer) have all joined ROBIN full-time after their internship.

As of early September, a record number of four students came to work at ROBIN. In this article, they briefly introduce themselves to you and tell you what they do at ROBIN.

Also looking for an internship at ROBIN? For the upcoming internship period (2019) we have opportunities for traineeships available in our beautiful new office at Velperweg 27 in Arnhem (near railway station Arnhem Velperpoort). For Marketing internships, please contact our Brand Chief Michiel Gaasterland. For Development internships, please contact our Head of Engineering Gijsbert Brouwer. You can reach them both via the ROBIN Team page.

Introducing: Loïs, Selina, Joris & Milan

Selina van den Top

My name is Selina. I am 24 years old and I live in Ede. At the moment I'm doing my graduation project at ROBIN. I study Communication and Multimedia Design at the HAN in Arnhem.  For my research, I examine which media solution contributes to a better positioning of ROBIN on the ICT recruitment market.

I ended up at ROBIN via social media. The atmosphere in the introductory meeting was so relaxed that it seemed like a really nice place to graduate. Besides my education, I keep myself busy with drawing, horseback riding and chasing my cat.

Loïs Berndsen

My name is Loïs. I am 20 years old and I'm from Arnhem. I'm a student Interaction Design at the HAN, currently doing my internship at ROBIN working with the Customer Success team! From
design point of view, I come up with new concepts for the ROBIN product. I spend a lot of time researching, designing and testing
new ideas.

I have chosen to do an internship at ROBIN because there is an informal atmosphere where I don't have to worry about asking questions or introducing new ideas. When I want to do something different, I get the opportunity to do that. In my spare time, I like to be creative, and I also enjoy going to festivals and parties with friends.

Joris van Heerebeek

My name is Joris. I am 21 years old and live in Arnhem together with three of my best friends. I am a third-year student at the HAN in Arnhem where I study Communication and Multimedia Design. At ROBIN I am part of the marketing department. I design interactive solutions for, among other things, marketing campaigns.

In addition to my studies, I work at Ikea as a sales employee. I am used to helping customers in the physical store. In my experience, consumers highly value customer service to the extent of basing their favourite store on the customer service experience. Providing customer service within' eCommerce is a lot more difficult. How do you make the emotional connection with your customer? That's why I think that ROBIN is a very interesting company!

As a trainee, I love to make a contribution to the company's daily output and learn more about Interaction Design as well as learning more about online retail. In addition, I was looking for a young company with an informal working atmosphere, but also for a company that works hard. I found that in ROBIN!

Milan from Lent

My name is Milan. I am 21 years old, living in Weurt. I study Communication and Multi-Media Design at the Avans in Den Bosch. At ROBIN's marketing department I am busy with the design of banners, flyers and web pages, but I also work on realising conceptual design for a trade fair booth. My most important assignment is to update the ROBIN brand identity and record it in a style guide.

I chose ROBIN because it's as a professional company where I can learn a lot in the field of eCommerce, communication, and design. I immediately had a good click with the people and got a lot of freedom in the way I would carry out my design assignments. I have been working here for more than a month now and am very happy that I have chosen ROBIN as the company for my internship!
